The Norwegian Sauna Association has as a goal to connect all public saunas in Northern Norway under the same ‘flag’, so that it will be easier for people to find saunas in their local area. In addition, the association is a knowledge and funding base for people that want to start their own sauna locally!

Fauna Sauna is the first sauna built and run by the association, and it sits on the ocean inside the centre of Bodø. It has two saunas, one big, one small, two outdoor showers, a greenhouse and a bathing platform from which you can jump or walk into the ocean.
Taking a sauna is simple here: after putting on your bathing clothes, you walk into a sauna, and when properly warmed up, you jump straight into the ocean. The idea is to stay in the cold water long enough so that your breathing slows down (fight the panic your body feels!). When you then exit the sea, you will feel surprisingly warm! Next, you take a freshwater shower to clean your body of salt, and go back into the sauna. Heat, swim, wash, repeat!
Ask the people working at the sauna anything you like, and enjoy the cool experience!
